A New Look for 2009

January 25, 2009

I know it hasn't been that long since I originally changed the look of Bargain Chic, but I thought it was time to really amp it up -- make the site look like a REAL bona fide blog. So here it is -- the new look. It is still a work in progress, but tell me what you think -- what works, what doesn't. Take note that Bargain Chic is now on Twitter and Facebook Networked Blogs. Yes. I know. I'm EVERYWHERE [insert big, garish laugh].

Okay, a little over-kill.

Inauguration Day

January 19, 2009

I can't believe it is finally here -- Inauguration Day! I am so excited and wish I could be in D.C. to be a part of all the festivities and the excitement of this historic moment in American history. Alas, I am thousand of miles away from the balls, the parties, the concerts and the cold. (Well, I could do without the cold, as I am happy in my 70 degree weather.)

But just because I am not physically there, doesn't mean I can't dream of what it would be like to be in the thick of all those taffeta gowns celebrating the night away. So, if I were there -- giving air kisses to Michelle and fist-bumps to Barack -- this is how I dream I would ring in our country's new beginning...

And, of course, for those many imagined cocktail parties I would be attending, here is a cute, sophisticated, LBD.

Favorite Stores: Part 3

January 11, 2009

Although it is a new year of new fashions, I would be amiss if I did not post on some of the great fashion deals that permeate the Web right now. Everyone is having sales, and certainly they are above and beyond your normal post-holiday, pre-new-season sales. I'm talking about 60% to 75% off already reduced prices! That, my friends, is what I call a true bargain.

And to further my reasoning for posting on all these OMG sales, I must include with it my last installation of my favorite stores. The final three stores I'll showcase are all about simple sophistication -- Gap, Banana Republic and J.Crew. Of the three, The Gap is the most economical. However, each store has always been know to have some outstanding sale items. And here are just a few that I feel fit the bill of a "true bargain."

Gap

Strapless Tiered Ruffle Dress, $24.99

Sheer Ruffle Top, $29.99; Low-Rise Organic Boot-Cut Jeans, $34.99

Banana Republic

Puff-Sleeve Belted Dress, $49.99

Cotton Ruffle Blouse, $24.99; Martin Plaid Button-Tab Ankle Pant, $39.99

JCrew

Ava Dress, $59.99

Dream Valerie Bow Cardigan, $39.99; City-fit Watson Pant, $19.99
